Panic Attack Treatment

What is a panic attack? Put simply without exaggerating it is a paralyzing terror of a fear that you are going crazy or going to die, causing one to believe they are trapped and helpless by an overwhelming threat in the mind, though there really is no threat. Panic attacks are illogical and irrational and the cure is subjecting your mind and body to the Word of God as every Christian should practice.
My Panic attack treatment came from God touching me as I faced my fear head on after several years, and he honored it. We need to understand more of the authority you have in Christ (Hosea 4:6) my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. [NIV]. Jesus can overcome panic attacks because He overcame the world!(Hebrews 4:12) For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. [NIV]. I prayed and cried a long time over my panic attacks for a long time before I got healed.
The power that rose Jesus from the dead is alive in the Saints.
I know panic is so hard and it seems impossible to live day to day and If you have a ton of doubt thinking nothing can change - I did too. I thought God abandoned me or His power wasn't enough. I though of all kinds of doubts and fears that were never true.
Panic Attack Tips
Before I go into the details about panic attacks here are simple things that can help you:
- 1. Stop Drinking Caffeine and replace it with Juice and Water.
- 2. Stay on a regular sleep schedule, do not sleep more than 10 hours, oversleeping can cause you to feel funny.
- 3. If you can't sleep, try taking Melotonin it is a natural vitamin your body produces and it wont have the weird effects of sleeping pills.
- 4. Take vitamins: Fish oil or Flaxseed and Lethicin for the brain, Generic Vitamin like Centrum, Green Tea. These won't make you feel perfect but you'll feel a lot better in about 3 weeks.
- 5. Try to get out once a day, even if it's a walk to your mailbox or sit on the porch. Try to also do something fun at least once a week like going bowling or playing basketball.
- 6. Do something productive; Clean a room in the house, walk the dogs, file some papers, do your art or hobby, or something that you can remember you did each day.
The Attack
Panic attacks can not last over ten minutes. If you have medication it can end almost immediately or be prevented to begin with. Unfortunately people that have not experienced panic attacks have a slim idea of the crippling it causes us to live our life.
If you get a panic attack it may feel best to go to a safe person that you feel comfortable around. It can also help to be at your home, or your safe place like a room or den. You may feel limited to a proximity of comfort; a certain distance away from home.

I've thought about this for a long time and still do not understand why people suffer from panic attacks over and over. Especially the children of God. I refuse to pretend that I understand it all but I know it helps by reading that you are not crazy and not alone.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. [NIV]
Are panic attacks spiritually related? Well I can't say all of them are for certain. Although, mine came through my Dad's side of the family and my youngest sister also has them, she still deals with them. This leads me to believe it was a generational curse; My great grandmother had many mental problems; But just as it was grafted in me as I aged so were they destroyed by the healing Power of Jesus.
Authority of the Word
The answer to your panic is the Word of God (Hebrews 4:12) For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. [NIV]. Fear is not from God, The Spirit of God is of peace (2Timothy 1:7) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. [KJV]. I kept asking God for help and more faith (Hebrews 11:6) And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. [NIV], I had to keep seeking and knocking until God would open that door and honor my best faith (Romans 3:3-4) What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God's faithfulness? Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar .. [NIV].
The Bible commands us to cast down these irrational fears and to take them captive and submit them to Christ (2Corinthians 10:5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; [KJV]. The best way to accomplish such a thing is to ask Holy Spirit for revelation of what this verse means so that you can receive wisdom to use this with authority.

If the Spirit of God is in you then you should not have these irrational fears, but if you do don't worry! (1John 4:18) There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. [NIV] You need to grow in the knowledge and confidence of God and one of the best ways to do this is by fasting -- specifically the fast of breaking yokes and bondage's (Isaiah 58:6) "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?" [NIV].
Humility and Diligence are the ABC's to spiritual growth (James 4:6) But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." [NIV]. Fasting is all about self-denial, obedience and humility. Please do not get legalistic about going on a super long fast but start small. You could read about the fast Esther did for 3 days or that Daniel did for 21 days (Yikes!).
"When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. [NIV]
Notice it says, When you fast, not if you fast. You will get the attention of the Lord by being humble and obedient. He looks upon the humble and lowly not the proud who want self glory (Psalm 138:6) Though the LORD is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar. [NIV].
At the current time you may not have peace in your body, but consider the alternative of not having peace with God. The Bible says that you are a new creation and you have peace with God, (Romans 5:1) Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, [NIV], you are no longer in rebellion against Him! The only thing you can change now is how pleased He is with you, but you can never change his limitless love for you!
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. [NIV]
Your LORD Jesus is familiar with suffering and sorrows (Isaiah 53:3) He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hid their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. [NIV] and if sweating blood is not a panic attack I believe it's far worse with the pain and agony Jesus faced as he prepared for his suffering (Luke 22:44) And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. [NIV]. Keep presenting your requests before God (Hebrews 4:16) Therefore let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. [NIV].
Walk His Ways
As far away as God may seem during a panic He isn't. I know it's so hard in the middle of a panic to realize this so it's understandable if you feel that way even though it is not true. Our reasons, logic and our feelings don't make something to be true - A panic attack is exactly that: Illogical. Seek God with all your heart he will fulfill the desires of your heart and restore you, no Father rejects his child. (Psalm 119:2) Blessed are they who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart. [NIV]
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things. [NIV]

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. [NIV]
Before you began getting panic attacks what was your first priority? (Proverbs 27:7) He who is full loathes honey, but to the hungry even what is bitter tastes sweet. [NIV] It may not have been God, but now your only hope may be God. You have to put God first, if He has been first just keep doing it! Know that we can't fool God or use him and we our our duty as a human is to obey God. (Ecclesiastes 12:13) Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. [NIV] Once your panic attacks are healed and you feel normal again you better keep seeking the One healed you!
Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; [NIV]
Ask Holy Spirit to teach you what to learn in God's Word every time you read the Bible. He may lead you back to the simple things to get it in your heart. Just because we have read something doesn't mean we have revelation of it! Keep asking Holy Spirit for revelation and power, and all kinds of requests!
