Answer My Prayers
Jesse (June 26th, 2005)
I felt God put this on my heart this evening, after having a few conversations with some friends in Michigan where I used to live. Its such a simple question subject to 'Why don't I see God answer my prayers?' Well let me explain.
We can sit and pray, and hope for a result. But lets be honest, must we take God as a fool? Does he not see all and know all? This isn't to sound condemning to you, but honestly, God knows what's going on inside your heart. Its not about what you know, its about what you do. If you take a moment to pray and are hopeful for results that is good, will it be answered? I have no doubt, if it is according to Gods perfect will. But how long will it take? I've gone through trials time and time again, and I've learned this..
Where your heart is with God, can completely change the result of how your prayers are answered. If we pray and are continually sinning KNOWING what we do is WRONG, yet continue to pray and see no result. To a point where we may even begin to doubt God, this causes a great deal of doubt within our hearts and can deeply trouble our faith discouraging us to even speak with Him. I've experienced this countless times, wondering "God why don't you hear me?" He DOES hear you. According to what we think is one thing, but according to what we DO is a true act of faith in Him. In the Bible it says "Faith without Deeds is dead". If we are willing to pray, yet not act upon our faith, what kind of faith is that? If God asked you to show your faith you had in Him, how would you show it? By prayer, yes an act of faith, but by what we DO is more important. Or else we contradict ourselves because light cannot live with darkness. Darkness in accordance to our sins.
If we want our prayers answered more assuredly, we need to get RIGHT with God and do what is right. I'm not talking about the ten commandments as being these strict rules.. Man desired a law, so God gave it to them, it was not Gods perfect will. I'm not saying your prayers will not be answered if you are in a cry for help or a situation where you feel you are stuck. But the more you seek the Lord, the more you do right, the more you will see results and prayer become a reality.
This is nothing to feel guilty of if this may apply to you. I've made the mistake of doubting God in prayer by not understanding that my actions affect my relationship with him. I hope it opens your eyes and you understand that God see's and knows all, period. He knows your heart, and; "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he." So are you doing what your heart craves, to serve God, or living by the flesh? Its simple, want answers? Die to the flesh (stop the lifestyle of going against God) and live for Him, get your heart right!
If you are feeling so guilty by your sins you've committed against Him, maybe you refuse to pray? If this is true, that's exactly what God does not want you to do! That's what the devil wants, he wants to ruin any communication with God you have. The devil is nothing but an evil, self-serving, egotistical, snake, don't be ensnared by the devils lies. God forgives, get right with God not just by continually asking for forgiveness and doing what you were before, but change your ways! That is repentance. That is where you will see God move in you!
And remember this; God is not one to judge quickly. You can reject God and still receive his mercy. But you can't keep rejecting Him.
