Pleasure In Sin

Jesse (June 9th, 2005)

The devil shows you his bait, the pleasure in a moment, where in that moment everything in you says I must have that, If I don't have that Ill die, If I don't get that girl, that guy, that drug, that drink, Ill die. What you don't see is the hook behind his bait. The way of the world, to pull us in and blind our eyes to the final consequence.

Open your eyes, don't be deceived. Sin has consequences, think about in a marriage how years of a relationship built together can be destroyed in one hour of adultery. Is it worth destroying years even decades of marriage for that thrill in only an hour?

God always shows you the final result, that which comes after - While the devils method is to blind you of that. If you watch a football game and a team plays a great game and in the very end loses, we look at the end result, and its as if the entire game didn't matter because they lost. We have to visualize our old consequences to sin in front of our face and say "I don't want that". As irresistible as someone or something may seem, they are as sharp as a double edged sword, the after effects are not worth living that moment.

We have to be wise not in knowledge only but in our actions! Get your strength back, allow the Holy Spirit to give you self-control, and wisdom, let it be your guide. That way we will not be destroyed by these foolish lies in sin that claim to "fulfill our needs, or to satisfy us." Only then by understanding we will know the after effects of our sinful actions are destructive.
