The Trinity: Father, Son, Holy Spirit

You could compare the trinity to time. There is the past, present, and future -- but all three of them are equal components that make up time. Even that's hard for me to conceive. Here are Bible verses for proof of God being three manifestations but one God.

The word "Trinity" will not be found anywhere in the Bible it is only a Biblical term and a reference word. There is only One and true God, but in the unity of the Godhead there are three coeternal and coequal manifestations. The three being: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

John 1:1-4
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) He was in the beginning with God. (3)All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. (4)In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. [KJV]

^ The Word is Jesus (John 1:14) The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. [NIV]. Verse 2 says, "He was in the beginning with God", meaning Jesus has always been eternal (1 John 5:7) For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one. [KJV].

Genesis 1:26
And God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, after our likeness .. [KJV]

John 14:8-9
Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and that will satisfy us." Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? The person who has seen me has seen the Father. So how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?" [NIV]

^ When the apostles saw Jesus they saw the Father. The difference is that God was not in his glorious form while a man (Isaiah 53:2) He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. [NIV].

John 15:26
"When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me." [NIV]
1 Corinthians 12:4-6
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.

^ Above outlines some of the different roles of the manifestations of God.

Isaiah 43:11-12
"I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior. I declared and saved and proclaimed, when there was no strange god among you; and you are my witnesses," declares the LORD, "and I am God."

^ The Savior is Jesus Christ, God is the savior. When "LORD" is capitalized it is referring to the Father.

1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among nations, believed on in the world, and received up into glory. [KJV]

How was Jesus on earth and God at the same time? I have no idea, I'm nobody to tell God who He is.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is not some energy floating around but a manifestation of God that serves a purpose. He is referred to as: Teacher, Instructor, Counselor, Helper. The Holy Spirit has emotions because he can be grieved! (Ephesians 4:30) And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. [NIV]

John 16:13-14
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own, he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.

^ Jesus refers to Holy Spirit as a person seven times, which I find interesting as 7 is the number of perfection in the Bible as I understand.
