Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has God not made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. You could sit down and converse with the greatest educated man or woman, or a world renouned philosopher, or an intellectual -- they may know much about life and education, but they do not know God the lover of their soul. In all a mans efforts, education, studying, earning, striving, and even people who dilligently study the scripture and stop there (which testifies about Jesus), they do not even know God! Isn't that amazing? You would think people like this who seem to have so much understanding and worldly wisdom knew God. The cross is foolishness to those perishing but to us it is the power of God. To know God it begins with Christ crucified, if anyone rejects the Son they reject the Father. Eternal life is to know the One true God, and Jesus Christ. God always wants to restore man to himself, like in the days of Eden. You will never find God through mans intellect. Sin mostly satisfies the flesh and not the heart. Most people are stuck in this one because they love their sin. Sin can be very pleasuring, but to overcome they have to overcome evil with good. Nothing can wash away sin except the Blood of Jesus.#2 They want God to trust them, But they don't trust Him.People don't give God their first fruit offerings, but they want Him to bless their pocketbook. Sometimes people say, 'If I had a lot of money I would give', but the truth is: What you do with a little, you do with a lot.#3 They Believe a LieJesus said, "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free."  If they do not know the truth how can they exercise the truth to gain freedom? Some people can't hold on to a single promise of God, they just hope for the best and call it some Karma Shinnannigans. God is looking for people to speak faith verbally and act on it. Many of the Christians I've talked to aren't aware of spiritual battles, that is because they aren't very spiritual. And they don't understand why thing go so wrong. #5 Religion Doesn't WorkPeople allow man to place law, traditions, and works on their shoulders to try and meet Gods requirements. But God placed the sinless savior Jesus on the cross so we can meet Gods requirements.Every religion tries to make you earn your way to a higher power, but Jesus is Gods way of reaching down to man. #6 I'm Not ReadySome people think their life is too out of order, 'When I got this right then I'll try'. They should come to God all messed up, filthy with guilt and sin, they shouldn't try to get it right themselves or they never will. And who knows, maybe it will be too late!#7 I'm too BadSome people think they are too bad. But only once in History did the Son of God give His life freely for you, it will never ever happen again! He paid for every sin, not just some. The devil wants you to think the blood of Jesus is not enough, but the blood of Jesus is everything. And the blood of Jesus defeats the work of the devil.#8 They don't BelieveIf people will Humble Themselves, Seek His face, and Pray, then God will hear from Heaven and heal them. Wishful thinking and testing God doesn't work, someone has to deliberately go out of their way and break the usual cycle of habits to seek Him. The most controversial person in History, Jesus Christ is the answer to everything. The authenticity of the Bible is backed up by Prophecy, if you want a book that foretells the future and fulfills it, this is only found in the Bible with unbelievable 100% accuracy. To do so you have a few options such as: chizelling away at it, hammering it, or smashing it. To get to the insides beyond the shell it takes much effort. One has to literally destroy the hard shell. I think God does the same thing with our hearts. It sounds painful, and it can be. Because sin hardens the heart, and God has to break the hardness so he can keep working with us deep on the good insides.Another thought.. I can invite someone over by asking them -- but if I lock the doors when they arrive they arent getting in. Many times I say, "Oh God help me, I believe, I'll do anything", but whenever God wants to come in I lock him out because I'm busy sinning with my own agenda. God must get the Glory because the Lamb is worthy of everything. And He will not give His Glory to another.Then I thought about that verse in Romans. Creation testifies that there is a creator, just by looking around you know there is a God. But by looking at creation it doesn't let you know your creator, it just shows that there is one. It's like finding a watch on the road and saying I know the watch maker because I found his watch. You don't know Him you just have a product of his hands! Believing and Knowing God are two completely different things, because eternal life is to know Jesus Christ, and the Kingdom of God is now at hand, at your hand! And eternity is in your heart.Then I thought about that verse, His mercies are new every morning. And 1 John 2:1, if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense--Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. If you messed up yesterday, repent and change today. Some of us need to start believing Gods promises, especially the little ones we easily forget. Before beating yourself up about something you did yesterday, Just ask God to forgive you, bury it and move on. Every day God guided them by a cloud in the day and a pillar of fire at night.When they had idols, God didn't stop his grace, he kept guiding them even though they totally disobeyed Him. What mercy God had, that goes for 40 years!God was kind enough to keep His mercy going for 40 years of disobedience! Though the price the Isrealities paid was big, they did not enter the Promised Land due to their hard hearts of disobedience.So I ask myself some things. I may be walking in the grace of God following all His obvious signs, but am I imitating the Israelites? I understand we move Glory to Glory, we are not supposed to be standing still. Do I listen where wisdom cries aloud in the streets? Have I settled only for observing the obvious and comfortable while neglecting my own role and participating?Is my current strategy going to get me to the destination He set before me? He doesnt just want to guide me, He wants my participation.I want to be carried by Gods awesome grace but I don't want to ignore the road signs of obedience which would keep me from a greater destiny than what I may be settling for. He keeps no record of my wrongs, He washes away my shame, He fulfills my every need.  He doesn't take me out of my problems he takes me through them. I need problems, I'll never change without confrontation, today I thank God for my problems. I need the crushing to let the oil flow so that I can be more like Him. God makes me confront my adversaries, because I am born-again to conquer them. If His law wasn't my delight I'd perish in my affliction.. His precepts revive me.. I wish someone could hear that. Every problem is an opportunity to let go of control and allow the potter mold us like Him. If we aren't in cooperation with God I think our attitudes can get upset and bitter through our circumstances. There is so much more in Jesus than anything this world has to offer. His anger is for a moment but His favor endures a life-time. God is so awesome. He heals oppression and breaks yokes, He is an ever present help in times of trouble. When I'm doing just fine I don't need faith to move mountains, I need it more when I'm in trouble. Many waters cannot quench His love. I put a little video here that is special to me, and you probably have your own songs you played a long time ago where you can really remember God being close in your life. For me, most of those songs in the early years were by Rich Mullins and Steven Curtis Chapman. God is the same yesterday, today and forever! The first time you experienced how God felt towards you -- He still feels that way towards you today, it's okay if you don't feel Him like you used to you certainly will again. Please take time to reflect on who Jesus is. He brings back to life our true identity that we sometimes drop along the way. But I've learned the clear sign that the conviction I feel in my heart is from God is when there is hope within the sorrow. God always gives us hope, and Romans 5:5 says, "Hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us." When you are accused and condemned you do not feel hope, that is not conviction. Romans 8:1 says, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." I paused a minute and see that it applies to those who walk in the Spirit, not the flesh. It's tough and not easy all the time because sin is crouching at the door. Matthew 3:8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. If we are repentant we should sometimes check to see if we are increasing in any of the fruits of the spirit: Faithfulness, love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, and selfcontrol. If you don't think you are increasing in any of them don't worry, ask Jesus to forgive ya again and try again. The easiest way to produce fruit is to get in the presence of God because his goodness just rubs off on ya. Sometimes I feel like after a week long war of legalism, struggle with sin, getting sick of myself, and beating myself up some more -- I get little nuggets of wisdom birthed out of all the calamity I've inflicted upon myself. I don't enjoy it. I don't think I did too good this week, so I will try again tomorrow when His mercies are new. We have this wretched prosperity stuff. Why do people think gain is godliness? Paul never glamorized the gospel, it's a bloody gory gospel, it's a sacrificial gospel. I believe the cardinal ethic of Christianity is sacrifise, not success! Sacrifise! The most precious thing we ever handle is the human soul. There is only one way to heaven there are a million ways to hell. What do you do to go to hell? Do nothing. Just do nothing, that's all. You don't have to blaspheme the name of Jesus, you don't have to be an adulterer. Just coast on! The greatest sin is not adultry, the greatest sin is to say, "I can manage my life without God". We say, I wonder why God doesn't burden me, do you know why? Because he cant trust us. We arent strong enough to carry the burden. We don't need more light, this will only make it worse at the judgment, we need more obedience. Some of us known for years what we should do, but we hold back. Some of those awesome words Jesus spoke, "I have many things to tell you but you cannot bear them." I don't want to stand before all the great saints and God say to me, "You were so pre-occupied I couldn't get through to you, and if I could you weren't mature enough to handle it." I believe when we get inside eternity everyone of us will wish we sacrifised more, prayed more, loved more, grieved more, wept more.
