I Really Want to Know God
Many people don't actually want anything to do with God, they want to know how God can serve them. This article is about when I blamed God for problems yet never sought Him. In a time of need or trouble I would ask for Gods help. But once I hear the way to God is through humbling myself and repenting from wicked ways, that I am the problem -- then the fight of pride comes out in me. I wasted my time for too long with the wrong attitude.
'Well, I don't know if Gods real anyways..
Well, there were so many religions before God..
Well, look at all the wars in the name of religion..
Well, I know Gods happy with me I can just go my way..'
I used these foolish arguments to make an excuse not to surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. That is Pride, no wonder it says 'God detests the proud in heart'. My pride puffs up with the foolish wisdom of the world and I use my own "wisdom" to defends my ways - No wonder it says 'All a mans ways are right in his own eyes', I am convinced that I am right and it's Gods fault my problems aren't fixed. Since I refuse to change, my heart becomes bitter towards God in and endless cycle of chances to be broken and submit to God. But I am only building a greater wall that will be harder to break down for every new crisis.
Nobody changes without some sort of confrontation, that's why problems are a good thing if you don't know Jesus Christ.
God must break us before he can use us. Because all man have rebellious, evil, sinful hearts, thats you and me! A seed does not grow unless it dies. Our self-will, self-preservation and self-sufficiency are curses and they prevent us from knowing the Lords awesome power - 'To love God is to hate evil'. If you walk with the Lord already, your entire life is going to go through God breaking you over and over to work this 'self' out of you, why? Because you are continually being transformed into the likeness Jesus.
Do I really think God is going to bless rebellious prideful people? No, he is far from them and has nothing to do with prideful hearts. 'I hate pride and arrogance' says the Lord. And Psalm 5:5 - 'The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.'
God wants people that love Him, He doesn't want people trying to buy his blessings with lip service.
